Letters to our Sons | February 2013

Dear Ethan,

You are such a smart kid. It amazes me how fast you learn and how you can see something done once and immediately replicate it. You are learning new things on a daily basis, and new words by the minute. Today you built a dune buggy out of Legos. I don’t even know where you learned about a dune buggy! And you are so curious, almost to a fault. A lot of the reason you get in trouble is due to your curiosity – you are constantly getting into everything! It’s fitting that your favorite show is Curious George. You often get into the kitchen cupboards and drawers to make “hot tea” or “ice cream.” You are constantly getting into Daddy’s things or “working” at Mommy’s desk. You have such a natural zest for learning. Although it sometimes gets you in trouble, it’s a beautiful thing. I love watching you take in the world around you. Our trips to Disneyland are always a blast because you really experience it to the fullest and are so happy and excited. A couple of weeks ago I got to watch you experience something else – real snow for the very first time. Here in Southern California, we rarely get snow, let alone snow that sticks to the ground to play in. To see you so excited to play in the snow was one of the highlights of your young childhood. You had such a blast! I loved having a snowball fight with you and teaching you how to build a snowman and eat snow. And you loved chasing the dogs around in the snow and discovering how different a bulldozer scoops snow than dirt. You did NOT love how snow felt on your feet when you took your boots off (after Mommy told you not to!) but you had to test it out for yourself. I love you my little Curious Ethan!

Love, Mommy
